Ways to keep your hair healthy.

We all go through hair problems every now and then. All of them can't be taken care of at once but to maintain and/or retain the health of your hair it is important to take some steps. Today I'll share with you some general tips and tricks which have worked for me as well.

1. Don't shampoo every day!

If you wash your hair every day, that's fine. But, if you shampoo it daily, it will strip away the natural oils from the scalp resulting in hair fall, dry scalp and even roughness. It will also cause the scalp to produce more oil in return. Plus, regular shampooing will also cause hair dye and/or streaks to fade away (if you get them done) earlier than expected.

2. Brush the tangles away!

Brush your hair "after" they've completely dried. Avoid using blow dryers as they harm the scalp. Room temperature is best. Brush in strokes starting from the bottom of the hair and moving towards the top. Yes, it's the opposite way. Starting from the bottom detangles the hair rather easily and doesn't pull them out or cause breakage. Whereas starting from the top will cause both.

3. Tie em up!

Be it children or adults, keeping hair open all the time will without a doubt catch dust, split from the ends, lose texture and even catch lice (yikes!). Keep your hair tied when at home, If you still want to style them, tie them in a pony tail, braid or bun. You can choose from many styles for which several tutorials are available on Youtube.

4. Cut down on hair stylers!

Excess use of hair straighteners/curling irons can cause unimaginable damage to your hair. They will become rough, frizz and lose texture. I was surprised to see it is noticeable even in photos. One of my friends, a very frequent user of straighteners turned up with auburn shaded bottom hair in photos, which was not hair dye or low lights but the result of hair burning due to excessive straightener usage. Even if you use serums and heat protectors, remember that these products also contains chemicals which will temporarily block excess heat but don't promise retained hair health. But if you still want locks or waves try those no heat tutorials on Youtube.

5. Condition at least once a week!

Use conditioner once or twice a week, depending on your hair type. Don't apply it to the scalp. Focus on end as they're the most dry part. Conditioners are a doze of nourishment for the hair. Use herbal or organic once if you can find.

6.  Let nature help!

Natural ingredients are the best care for hair compared to cosmetic products infused with natural ingredients or extracts from herbs and fruits etc. Plain natural ingredients on their own can do a much better job at providing health and nourishment to the hair. Some well known nature helpers are egg, henna, milk, oil from olives, almonds and coconut etc. I have talked about a henna treatment for healthier hair, which I personally follow as it voluminizes and makes the hair silky and soft. Check it out here.

7. Get a cut when it's needed!

It is essential to get a haircut or trim every 3 months, according to experts. But if you're not comfortable with the idea or your hair growth is slow, then it's best to have them cut when it's most needed. The longer the hair grow the more dead they will become at the ends due to lack of blood circulation. This will ultimately result in visible dullness, tangles and split ends.
To save yourself from worrying about these problems later it is better to get a hair cut occasionally. Fix a salon appointment or do it at home using crea clip if you have one.

That's it for my tips. I hope they've helped you in some way. If you have tips to share, do so in a comment below and don't forget to leave your opinion about the post. Ciao!

MUA Powder Blusher Lolly-Review, Photos, Swatches

Company/Brand Claim: -

For Skin Type: All

Packaging: Slim plastic case with joint lid.

Product Coverage: Sheer to medium

Formulation: Matte

Texture and Feel: Soft and powdery

Color: Sheer Coral
Fragrance: None

Application: Apply it like a regular blush

Result: MUA powder blushers are just not a super bargain but also offer a decent quality which, in my humble opinion, will also satisfy ladies with a high end taste. Lolly was introduced to the blusher range some time ago and I was one of the lucky ones to grab it first as it ran out of stock on Just4Girls pretty quickly. Lolly is a soft coral pressed powder blush which is super easy to apply and has buildable coverage. It is suitable for every skin tone and age. It doesn't scatter everywhere when you pick it up with a brush and a few swipes are well enough for a visible color. The case is feather light and will fit inside almost anything. It's the perfect shade for everyday wear and for any occasion.

Staying Power: Lightens after 3-4 hours of wear.

Times Tested: Several times
Cons: None

Anything Else: -

MUA Powder Blusher comes in a 1.2 grams content case and is available in 6 shades.

Rating: 5/5

Take it:

You're looking for an everyday blush

Sleek Eye Dust in 680 Dirty- Review, Photos, Swatch and Look

Company/Brand Claim: Perfect for a wash of bold color on the eyes that can be layered as desired for a stronger, more intense effect, perfect for any occasion.
For Skin Type: All
Packaging: Plastic jar with an easy twist lid and inside sifter.
Product Coverage: Full
Formulation: Shimmer Pigment
Texture and Feel: It is soft and powdery but doesn't feel like granules.
Color: Deep Chocolate Brown
Fragrance: None
Application: Apply using brush, applicator or finger tips.
Result: I don't understand why it is named "dirty" as the eye dust itself is an extremely bold and beautiful color which will suit every skin tone on the planet. It is super pigmented and I was glad to see it can be easily applied using an eye shadow brush and is blendable. Yes! You can even apply it with a sponge applicator or fingers but I wouldn't recommend it as it won't transfer all of the product. There's a huge amount of shimmer in there but you can use it according to the makeup look you're doing. Just don't pick up a lot at once. The eye dust leaves a metallic finish and can be used to create soft to bold looks, like the ones on fashion runways. Dirty is the perfect shade which can be accomodated with party wear and sparkly clothes. The jar has a sticker inside under which there is a sifter which helps with the product flow. It doesn't necesasarily need primer to hold but if you want to enhance your eye makeup or have very oily lids you can use one. The only thing I don't like about it is the fallout. But there's nothing that can be done about that as powder pigments will have fallout no matter what. So be sure to hold a tissue or use a shadow shield.
Staying Power: Lasts for hours and even longer if used over an eye shadow base or primer.
Times Tested: 3 times use.
Cons: Fallout. May crease on oily lids.
Anything Else: -
Sleek Eye Dust is available in a 6.5 grams jar and comes in 22 shades ranging from matte to shimmer finish.
Rating: 4.5/5

Take it:
You're looking for a shimmer eye shadow
You into bold makeup looks
You prefer pigments over pressed shadows
You like to experiment with eye makeup
You want to wear it for a party
You find it affordable
Leave it:
The colors are too bold for your liking
You're not into bold makeup looks
The fallout is an issue
You have very oily lids
Price: Rs. 550/-  and $4.49
Available at:
Pakistan: Online at Just4Girls and Beauty Arena.
International: -
Alternatives:  You can find pressed version of this in Sleek eye shadow kits. Mac pigments are a more expensive version.

Conclusion: I would definitely love to get more of these. Sleek has done a fine job with this product. Recommended? Yes.

Ladies Love: Everything Pink

The "Pink" Revolution.

Just about a few years ago "Pink" was just an ordinary color. It was plain, sweet and girly. But today, pink is a lot more than just a color. It's a style icon and has gained popularity opposite the ever so classy "Black".
As of now The more pink stuff you have the more stylish you are considered. From cellphones to laptops, from notebooks to bags, we even have exclusive pink furniture available these days. Of course this concerns ladies only. Pink is so not for men in my opinion.
So if you're not into pink yet, this lens will definitely change your thoughts about the hottest color around.

I like Pink because

It makes me feel more girly and nice.Lol,and maybe the fact that it's something so new in technological fields. We never had pink phones, laptops or gadgets. Everything out there was either black or silver. So when pink popped in, it really created a difference and maybe that's the reason i love it.

Pink Clothing

Pink clothing is not something new. But what is new is the transformation. Pink dresses either come in beautiful prints or embellished with sequins, beads, crystals and stones. You’ll find lots of funky tops, tanks and shirts with pink girly slogans and glittery text.
So if you don’t have anything pink in your wardrobe you better start looking for some nice pieces. They’ll surely add more elegance to your style. And i think the best place to look for pink clothing is victoria’s secret as they own a “Pink” brand as well.

Pink Makeup

Makeup has moved to most lighter shades of pink like rose and nude. Such makeup is a favorite of celebrities and other makeup buffs such as me. I never go out without a nude pink lip gloss and i hope you don’t either. It gives you a more subtle and natural look.

Pink Perfumes

Who would fall in love with pink perfumes? I have, lol. It’s not actually the perfume, it’s the bottle. Gaint perfume brands these days design the most beautiful bottles on the planet. Sometimes, i feel I’m actually paying for the bottle and not what’s inside it. They somehow seem to mesmerise me and i don’t throw away the bottle after I’ve used the perfume. Some of my favorites are Nina by nina ricci (picture on the side), touch of pink from lacoste and victoria’s secret perfumes.

Pink Bags

I really like pink totes, wallets and buket bags. Although they’re just normal bags, but the pinky color tone makes them fun to carry around. And i don’t really know why?

Pink Jewelry and Watches

I see jewelry encrusted with pink gemstones or a less expensive version is charms and gumdrops. Pink watches have been teen favorites for some time now. So if you’re missing out on any pink accessories you’re keeping yourself out of fashion competition.

Pink Shoes

From the softness and cuteness of furry slippers to the sexyness and sheen of high heel sandals, you’ll see a lot of pink shoes on fashion ramps and on the streets. So if you wana own a pair as well, below are some good deals.

Pink Hair Straighteners

They only straighten your hair and nothing else. So what’s this color craze about? Well, a lot of fashion addicts own pink hair straighteners and i would love to get my hands on one too. Specially the Ghd pink hair straightener on the side.

Pink Ipods

Pink is so contagious. Nothing is out of its reach, not even ipods. I’m glad to see they come in a metallic shocking pink tone which is a glossy like color and so pretty to look at. So if you’re thinking of buying an ipod, you might wana rethink your choice of color.

Pink Cameras

Digital cameras can’t be bought very often. So if you’re going to buy one, go for pink. Digital cams are expensive but they can make great gifts for your someone very special, if you can afford one. These days almost all major digital cam brands have both shades of pink (light and dark) in their color scheme.

Pink Cellphones

Girls kinda like it to show off their pink phones. As far as i know the “Pink Phone” trend was introduced by Motorola which was actually a big hit and kept on growing. Today, after basic colors for a phone are out, there’s an exclusive pink color launch following right behind. And as surprising as it may sound, pink phones of the same model are rather expensive than other colors. Wohoo Pink!

Pink Laptops

This is a treat for girls. Specially me. Computer giants like dell, hp and acer have launched the cutest little netbooks which are easy to use, affordable and of course come in “pink”. And if you want to play with your laptop you can buy plain or printed laptop skins or decorate it with beads and swarovski stick ons.

Hope you enjoyed the post. Have fun!

Milani Shadow Eyez 12 Hour Wear Eye Shadow 01 Winter White-Review, Photos, Swatches

Company/Brand Claim: 12 hour wear eye shadow

For Skin Type: All

Packaging: Thick chubby pencil with transparent plastic cap

Product Coverage: Sheer

Formulation: Cream

Texture and Feel: Very soft but transfers a lot of product.

Color: 01 Winter White
Fragrance: A very slight wooden fragrance

Application: Wear it like a regular eye shadow.

Result: Milani shadow eyez is a creamy eye shadow pencil which does not offer anything out of the ordinary. It is an eye shadow pencil and is suppose to work as an alternate to regular pan eye shadows. Now there are a few things of concern. Firstly, it is pigmented as it claims but sheers down to a very light color if you try blend it with your fingers or even a brush. The pencil transfers a lot of product which is OK with some of its shades but I wouldn't want to wear a lot of white shadow alone. You will need a thick pencil sharpener for this and that will of course waste a lot product. The uses I can think for it are as an eye shadow base, to highlight the tear duct and eyebrows. I would not recommend using it on the lower lash line as it clumps the lashes and makes the eyes seem zombie like. If you're into very bright looks or don't mind the sheer look after blending then you should try one out.

Staying Power: Will last a few good hours if not rubbed away.

Times Tested: Several times
Cons: Not blendable

Anything Else: I wish it was a twist up. A sharpener can really eat it up quickly.

Milani Shadow Eyez 12 Hour Wear Eye Shadow comes in a 2.8 grams content pencil and is available in 6 bright shades and 6 neutral shades including a black.

Rating: 2/5

Take it:

You're looking for a color eye shadow base
You're into bright colors
You prefer metallic finish
You like bright eye makeup looks
You want to wear it as a highlighter for brows and tear duct

Leave it:

You find it hard to blend
You have oily lids
You want to wear it as kajal
You don't want to wear it alone as an eye shadow
You don't like sheer coverage
You find it expensive

Price: Rs. 950/-
Available at:
Pakistan: Naheeds, Chase-up and other leading super stores. Online at Just4Girls and Beauty Arena.
UAE: -

Alternatives:  White shadow pencils available locally can do a similar job for a much lesser price. I have one named Italia ultra fine eye liner in shade 717 White Pearl which can be used as kajal and highlighter. I highly recommend it over the shadow eyez.

Conclusion: I love Milani for its range of products and bright colors but this one just falls flat. Recommended? No.

Eid and OOTD

This Eid I wore a White printed Al Mirah outfit my mother gifted my on my first visit to Pakistan after marriage. By now I'm sure know of my obsession with the brand. I'm even thinking of doing a separate post for my collection. Perhaps anytime soon.

So this dress is a straight salwar suit with a printed lawn dupatta. The shirt has silver work on the front which seems heavy and feels like nothing upon wearing the kameez. I've always loved JJ and Al Mirah for their quality. I paired it with Kolapuri Chappal for a more traditional look. Hope you guys like my outfit. Do share you comment. Enjoy!
