Leisure: Chill Out Cafe, Times Square, Dubai

If you reside in the UAE or have plans of a visit or vacation, don't forget to checkout Chill Out Cafe located at Times Square, Dubai. It's the first of its kind there and I was quite surprised when I got there. If you've seen or heard of The Ice Hotel, Sweden, this is something very similar to that. Since temperature inside is freezing, you'll have to dress up first. The management provides a parachute-fur coat and thick fabric shoes. A must see spot for tourists and locals.

Upon entrance you get to see famous landscapes and monuments of the UAE.

Even the seats and tables are all made of huge blocks of ice.

A glimpse of the interior.

You get to choose between a small menu which will be served once you're inside. We chose hot coco and brownies.

I hope you liked the post and will check this place out on your trip to Dubai. Enjoy!

Outfit of the Day: Traditionally Green

I bought this beautiful floor length outfit from Almirah last year, which is a sister brand of the Junaid Jamshed Co. Since its launch I've bought from them several times and I love every outfit that I own. Price range is similar to that of J. collection. The only difference is that Almirah focuses on a more ethnic style and that quite much shows in their designs.

Do you own an Almirah outfit? What do you think of them? Do let me know in the comments. Enjoy!

Junaid Jamshed Signature Jewelry

Junaid Jamshed is one of the most versatile brands in the country. They never fail to impress me with every new collection and sometimes take an extra step to experiment with trends and offer something new. This time they've come up with their own line of deodorants (i don't have the picture now) and a jewelry line. I picked these two beautiful pieces from their outlet at Dolmen Mall, Tariq Road. Jewelry isn't available at the Hyderabad outlet, so I guess for now it's only stocked at Karachi. I bought a pair of stacked oval earrings in gold and diamante for Rs. 1185/- and a gold toned stud ring for Rs. 1285/-. The prices may seem steep but its worth it if you go for the brand name and quality. I hope you liked my picks. Enjoy!

Storage Ideas (makeup and hair)

Without making this post very long, here are a few simple and affordable ways to store your makeup, jewelry and hair stuff without stuffing them in drawers.

Use perfume boxes
Decorative boxes are available in different sizes. Use these to store jewelry and pins.
Get canvas or plastic boxes from local shops.
Gift boxes are also neat for storage
This small gift box keeps my hair pins in place.

That's it for now. I also have another post on makeup storage which you can checkout here. Enjoy!

Get rid of upper lip hair at home-quick and easy!

Upper lip hair are literal confidence killers specially for ladies with dense and dark hair. What's even annoying is that they never stop growing. Ever! I've been getting my upper lip hair waxed for years now and yes the growth has reduced but to a minimum. I had to rush to the salon every 2 weeks because just look so bad. But there are days when one doesn't have time for anything and my skin has to pay the price. So I found out a way to get rid of these unwanted meddlers. It does involve waxing, strips in particular, but saves the hassle of salon appointments and you can do it home. It is slightly painful but very convenient. Grab a face wax strip and let's begin.

Ok, this is embarrassing but for demonstration purposes, here's a shot of my upper lips before I start off.

Rub the wax strip between your fingers to melt the formula inside and open up the strip.

Place your tongue underneath the area you want to begin with and push it so tightens a bit. If you want you can use talcom powder or a light moisturizer before you start, but I'm using none.

Place the wax strip vertically on the desired area and press a little with one finger. Then pull up as fast as you can. DON'T use the strip horizontally trying to pull out all hair at once, as I've already tried it and it is only a waste of time and strip, plus it is very painful. Use the strip bit by bit.

And voila! This is first half of the strip. You'll find 80% of hair on this one.

This is the second half. Use this the same way and it'll remove the left over hair which you missed initially.

And there you have a clean clearer upper lip. Enjoy!

Tarte Call of the Wild Amazonian Clay 8-Shadow Collectors Palette-Review, Photos, Swatches

 Company/Brand Claim: -

For Skin Type: All

Packaging: High quality plastic coated case with animal print borders. Looks like a wristlet. Love it!

Product Coverage: Highly pigmented

Formulation: Shimmer to Matte

Texture and Feel: All of the eye shadows in the kit have a smooth texture. Lynx is kind of chalky.

Meow: Medium bronze with shimmer.
Jungle: Deep shimmery brown
Call: Semi matte deep nude with a pink undertone
Instinct: Sheer shimmery highlight shade
Wild: Deep shimmery copper
Lynx: Matte sand with a nude undertone
Primal: Matte deep ash grey
Roar: Deep blue with a black undertone
Fragrance: None

Application: I found these difficult to apply with a sponge applicator. A brush or fingers are the best tools to use.

Result: I bought this palette for many reasons. Firstly, I fell for the colors especially Roar, which didn't do justice to my expectation as it is more black than the blue I was looking for. They seemed super pigmented, which all of the shades undoubtedly are and I'm glad that claim stood to its mark. The colors are all dark are limited to shimmer to matte finish but that doesn't limit the looks you can create with this baby. Jungle and Wild look kind of similar to me but that's just my humble opinion. There's mild fallout so a tissue is needed around. the shimmer shades blend well while the mattes take a little effort. The shades are suitable for every skin tone and best for neutral to bold looks for various occasions. But remember, it is not waterproof.  Apply wet for a bolder effect.

Staying Power: 4 hours generally. May stay longer if applied over primer.

Times Tested: 4 times use
Cons: Expensive

Anything Else: Comes with mirror inside.

Tarte Pure Delights LipSurgence Lip Set-Review, Photos, Swatches

Company/Brand Claim: A hybrid between a stain, a gloss and a rich balm. LipSurgence™ lip tint delivers nondrying, sheer color while keeping lips hydrated and refreshed. Our award-winning tint is goofproof—it goes on like a lip gloss, stays on like a stain and hydrates like a dreamy balm.

For Skin Type: All

Packaging: Thick twist up colored matte and glossy pencils.

Product Coverage: Sheer

Formulation: Matte and Glossy

Texture and Feel: The matte ones wear on dry and take a bit of effort but the glossy ones are moisturizing.

Color: Mattes: Generous: A deep nude, Destined: Deep berry pink, Glee: Candy pink, Cheerful: Deep nude pink.
Glossy: Grateful: Basic nude, Lovely: Sheer sorbet pink, Believe: Light fuchsia, Enamored: Sheer sorbet red.
Fragrance: Minty

Application: Can be applied like a regular lip tint and you can build up color by applying more.

Result: First of all I love the packaging and the colors. They come in a printed cardboard box which makes a perfect present for someone special (especially Valentines Day). Doesn't matter what skin tone you are, there's a shade that is exactly made for you. Colors range from nudes to pinks and a red too, which in my opinion is a treat. The mattes however are drying, when applied and after they set, they enhance fine lines and dehydrate the lips. As much as I love the colors, my extra dry lips literally need a chap stick underneath. If you do not have naturally dry lips, then there's nothing to worry about.
As for the glossy ones, they are rather sheer but very moisturizing but do not stay on for long. They'll transfer onto glass and food easily. All colors are wearable for everyday and casual events. If you're looking for longer stay then opt in for a lipstick as tints will neither offer enough coverage or longevity.

Staying Power: 2-3 hours

Times Tested: Each worn 3-4 times
Cons: Expensive

Anything Else: Only available through custom order.

Made In: USA

Tarte Pure Delights LipSurgence Lip Set contains 8 lip tints each weighing 1.75 grams.

Rating: 4.5/5

Take it:

You're looking for lip tints
You prefer sheer coverage
You want a matte finish and moisturization
You like to play with different colors
You prefer high end brands

Leave it:

You prefer medium-full coverage
You find the mattes too drying
You find it difficult to apply
You have very dry lips
You find it expensive

Price: Rs. 4650/-
Available at: I got mine through Rouge from Facebook. Internationally it can be purchased from Sephora.

Conclusion: They are expensive but not a bad deal if you're looking for variety and don't want to spend a lot on just one. If you're waiting to try out Tarte, this one is a must have. Recommended? Yes (will make a beautiful Valentine's Day present as well).
