Eid and OOTD

This Eid I wore a White printed Al Mirah outfit my mother gifted my on my first visit to Pakistan after marriage. By now I'm sure know of my obsession with the brand. I'm even thinking of doing a separate post for my collection. Perhaps anytime soon.

So this dress is a straight salwar suit with a printed lawn dupatta. The shirt has silver work on the front which seems heavy and feels like nothing upon wearing the kameez. I've always loved JJ and Al Mirah for their quality. I paired it with Kolapuri Chappal for a more traditional look. Hope you guys like my outfit. Do share you comment. Enjoy!

So it's time to reveal the surprise! Today I'm launching a new segment that is going to be a regular feature *fingers crossed* on KBB. As the title reads "Shop Sephora", you might have a rough idea about what's it going to be.

I just love love love Sephora! They have so much under one roof and undoubtedly a lot for everyone. The idea behind launching this segment was that there are several Facebook pages taking custom orders for the cosmetic giant and I believe there's a lot there that is missed out. A great offer, sale or maybe something that's new and a must have. Here's when I pop in!

Every 2 weeks, I will pick and feature 10 products from Sephora, that I find "qualitative and worth a purchase". If you are about to place an order/s you might want to checkout my picks as they may be of help. So check back in time if you don't want to miss out on some great deals!

Perfect "Pout" War

What creates the perfect pout? This question is debatable and there seems to be no definite answer to it. The cosmetic industry is swarming with lip products, with new ones launched every now and then, promising softer, supple, pouty, kissable etc lips that will leave, if not everyone, then at least your friends and rivals wowing!

Of course lip shape and skin type also matters, but is there any product/s worth the claims? Well, after several years of wearing lip stuff, today I am going to jot down my answer to who wins the "Perfect Pout War".

Lipsticks:

I believe it depends on the finish. Lipsticks with cream formulation tend to produce more pout over mattes or any other. Since cream lipsticks also moisturize the lips, leaving them soft and healthy appearing, nothing extra needs to used.

I recommend: Rimmel London Lasting Finish  (read review) and Kate Lipsticks.

Lip Gloss:

My absolute favorite beauty invention! Lip glosses double the size of the lips, in my humble opinion, making them appear fuller and of course very bright. The work best not only for naturally full but thin lips as well.

I recommend: L'Oréal Glam Shine range (read review), Borjouis Effect 3D glosses

Chap stick/Lip Balm:

A chap stick is all benefits. Not only does it remove chap, create a soft and smooth lip canvas but also makes them appear slightly pouty. With lip balms you have the option to choose between various shades. So those looking for naturally enhanced lips should wear these more often.

I recommend: Chapet, Maybelline Baby Lips (read review) and E.L.F Studio Conditioning lip balm.

Lip Butters and Lip Stains:

Lip butters are only moisturizing whereas stains come in different finishes. But when it comes to the pout factor, I think lip butters do a better job and have longer wear time, whereas lip stains are more pigmented.

I recommend: Revlon Lip Butter (read review) and Lip Stains

Lip Liners:

It might surprise some of you why'd I add lip liners to this list, but trust me, there were times when ladies would line and then fill in lips with the same pencil and such times still exist. So a lip liner is meant to give definition to the lips and ease lipstick application. But if you wear it all alone, it will not create a luscious pout.

Lip Lacquers:

They're similar to lipsticks, only in liquid in form. I love the fact that lip lacquers are not only pigmented but create a beautiful pout as well. Some of them tend to dry the lips afterwards, but if you use chap stick underneath it might hold on for long.

I recommend: Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer (read review)

So for me "Lip Gloss" wins the war, as I believe it not only creates the perfect pout but also moisturizes the lips. The color range is huge and the formulation is comfortable. I hope you enjoyed today's' post. Do share your thoughts and opinion. Ciao!

Color Studio Professional Soft Kohl Kajal in Blue Steel-Review, Photos, Swatches

Company/Brand Claim: -

For Skin Type: -

Packaging: Sleek black pencil with irremovable silver text.

Product Coverage: Sheer

Formulation: Matte

Texture and Feel: It is soft but applies very dry

Color: Deep blue.

Fragrance: Smells like wood.

Application: Wear it like a regular eye liner pencil on the lower/upper lash line and/or waterline.

Result: When I spotted this product on a website I kind of assumed blue steel to be that bold electric blue color but it turned out the exact opposite. This is one reason that makes me want to purchase cosmetics directly from the counters instead. Anyway, blue steel is a bold matte navy blue shade, which I do sort of like but it does not have any pigmentation unless you press the pencil a little harder and glide on a few times. The application is a major issue with this one. If it is meant to be a kajal, it is suppose to produce color with one swipe. It does not at all show on the waterline and I've given up on trying more. I wear it on the lower lash line after constant rubbing, which makes my lashes stick to each other. It is waterproof and does not smudge, but will fade away if rubbed out with fingers. so keep your hands away from your eyes, while you have this on. It is right on the softness claim but I'm disappointed otherwise.

On the other hand, working women and ladies who prefer more earthy or neutral colors and will like this kajal. Plus, if you have oily lids, it's a good eyeliner choice for summers.

Ingredients:

Staying Power: Will last a few good hours if not rubbed away.

Times Tested: Several times

Cons: Pigmentation issues

Anything Else: I wish it was a twist up liner. A sharpener can really eat it up quickly.

Color Studio Professional Soft Kohl Kajal comes in a 1.2 grams content pencil and is available in 7 shades.

Rating: 3/5

Take it:

You're looking for an everyday kajal
You're into bold colors
You prefer matte finish
You have oily lids
You want to wear it to work

Leave it:

You expect good pigmentation
You find it hard to apply
You think its too dry

Price: Rs. 250/-
Available at:
Pakistan: Naheeds, Chase-up and other leading super stores. Online at Just4Girls and Beauty Arena.
UAE: -
Website: Color Studio Pro

Alternatives:  Rimmel London Exaggerate Eye Definer (read review), Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Water Proof Kohl Kajal (read review

Conclusion: It would have been my summer staple only if it wasn't for the application. I'm not repurchasing. Recommended? No but do try one out.

Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Strong Roots Spray-Review, Photos

Company/Brand Claim: Moisturizes hair and scalp. Freshens hair. Soothes tightness and itch.

For Hair Type: All

Packaging: Handy plastic bottle with spray pump.

Product Coverage: -

Formulation: Slightly oily

Texture and Feel: Non sticky and watery.

Color: Transparent

Fragrance: Smells just like coconut oil with a slight hint of mint. Not everyone might like it.

Application: Just spray onto the scalp and massage with hands.

Result: It is the first time in many years that I've willingly used coconut oil for my hair. Although well aware of its benefits, I still stopped using it because of the weird sticky feeling. After I used the Palmer's strong roots spray for the first time, the first thing I noticed is the fragrance and a mild cool feeling on my scalp, just like it happens with products that contain menthol does. I divided my hair into strands and sprayed a few times and massaged. Although the label says it can be used after the shower for styling, but I prefer it as an alternate to coconut oil. I leave it on for 3-4 hours and wash the hair. It doesn't irritate the skin, doesn't drip and does not stain the pillow (really happy about that). It is meant to "nourish hair" and not make them long or thick and that's what it does. The pumped bottle is very convenient and ready to carry for travel. My husband gave it a try and he said it made his hair nice and soft. This product has a become a staple for my hair care.

Ingredients:

Besides coconut oil, it also contains vitamin E for softness and eucalyptus oil for overall hair strength and itch control. So those with dandruff can definitely use it.

Staying Power: 2-3 hours

Times Tested: 3-4 times

Cons: None

Anything Else: -

Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Strong Roots Spray comes in a 150 ml spray bottle. It is also available in olive oil and coco butter formulations.

Rating: 4.5/5

Take it:

You're looking for alternate to coconut oil
You prefer non sticky texture
You suffer from an itchy scalp
You have dry hair

Leave it:

You prefer pure coconut oil
You find the fragrance disturbing

Price: Rs. 550/-
Available at:
Pakistan: Naheeds, Chase-up and other leading super stores. Online at Just4Girls and Beauty Arena.
UAE: Safeer Mall.
Website: Palmer's USA

Conclusion: I kind of liked the idea of oil in a spray bottle so out of curiosity I placed an order and was really happy to see that it is not pure coconut oil but a mix of several ingredients that nurture the hair.  Recommended? Yes!

Fashion Haul and experience with Rea$onablez

While I was in Pakistan, I came across a new Facebook page named Rea$onablez where I spotted these beautiful Kolapuri sandals. Although I'm not a fan of the style, these somehow seemed very different and trendy and I placed an order. I also ordered a beaded turquoise bracelet with charms, as it seemed equally tempting.

I received the parcel after two days of order placement through tcs. I was happy to see my stuff was safe and sound and I quickly tried on the sandals first. They're fit for casual wear and have velcro lock at the back for a better grip. I've never seen such Kolapuri's before, so this new look was impressive. Here's how they look.

I got the Kolapuri's for Rs. 1200/- and the turquoise bracelet for Rs. 1700/-. If you'd like to have a look then checkout Rea$onablez. Overall I had a nice experience shopping with these guys. Hope you liked the haul.  Enjoy!
